Charter Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to every charter of our two yachts, Beleza and Oasis, from the 2027 season. Part A applies to every charter. Part B adds the rules for a skippered week, Part C the rules for a bareboat week. Your quote and booking confirmation give the figures for your own charter (price, deposit, due dates, security deposit). Where they set something different, they take precedence over these terms.
If anything here is unclear, write to info@oasisailing.com before you pay and one of us will answer.
Who you are chartering from
Each yacht is owned and chartered by its own Greek company:
- Beleza — Beleza M.C.P.Y. (registered as ΜΠΕΛΕΖΑ Ν.Ε.Π.Α.), Zappa 9, Drama 66131, Greece — VAT EL996972232
- Oasis — Oasis Sailing M.C.P.Y. (registered as ΟΑΣΙΣ ΣΕΪΛΙΝΓΚ Ν.Ε.Π.Α.), D. Gounari 24, Drama 66131, Greece — VAT EL997413801
In these terms “we” means the company that owns the yacht you charter, and “you” means the person who signs or accepts the booking (the charterer), on behalf of everyone sailing.
Part A: Every charter
1. Booking and payment
1.1 A booking is confirmed when we receive the deposit. Until then the yacht is only held for you, for the time stated on your quote.
1.2 The deposit is 50% of the yacht charter fee, due within 7 days of accepting the offer. The balance is due 60 days before embarkation.
1.3 If you book less than 60 days before embarkation, the full charter fee is due at booking.
1.4 Payments are made by bank wire to the company and account shown on your booking confirmation. Bank charges on your side are yours. We confirm by email when each payment has cleared.
1.5 We may refuse to hand over the yacht while any amount due is unpaid. If the balance is not received on time, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you under clause 3.
1.6 At check-in you sign the charter contract that Greek law requires. It records your charter on the terms on this page.
2. What the price includes
2.1 Your quote and booking confirmation list what is included and what is not. Anything not listed there is not included.
2.2 Unless your quote says otherwise, fuel, harbour and mooring fees, water and electricity at ports, and your own food and drink are not included.
2.3 Charters run Saturday to Saturday. Check-in is from 17:00 on the first Saturday; check-out is by 08:30 on the last Saturday. The yacht must be back at Lefkas Marina by 17:00 on the Friday.
3. Cancellation by you
3.1 Cancellation must be sent to us in writing (email is fine). The date we receive it counts.
3.2 Whenever you cancel, we keep the deposit (50% of the yacht charter fee). Anything you have paid beyond the deposit is refunded.
3.3 If you cancel before 1 February of the year of your charter, your deposit becomes a voucher instead (see clause 5).
3.4 The skipper’s and hostess’s fees are never charged on cancellation.
3.5 We strongly recommend charter cancellation insurance. We do not sell insurance ourselves; specialist insurers such as Pantaenius, YACHT-POOL and Topsail offer it.
4. Changing your booking
4.1 Changing dates. You may move your booking once, free of charge, to another available week, if you ask at least 120 days before embarkation. Any difference in price between the two weeks is charged or credited. After that, a change of dates is treated as a cancellation under clause 3.
4.2 Changing the name. You may pass your booking to someone else, free of charge, until 30 days before embarkation. The new charterer accepts these terms and, on a bareboat charter, must meet clause 16.
5. Vouchers
5.1 A voucher is worth the amount stated on it and can be used for any available week on either of our yachts.
5.2 A voucher is valid for 24 months from the date we issue it. It is not refundable and cannot be exchanged for money. If the new charter costs more, you pay the difference; if it costs less, the difference is not refunded.
6. Force majeure
6.1 Neither of us is liable for failing to perform these terms when prevented by events beyond reasonable control, such as war, natural disaster, epidemic or pandemic, government travel restrictions or port closures by the authorities.
6.2 If such an event, documented, prevents you from taking your charter and you tell us as soon as you can (and at least 30 days before embarkation where the event allows it), you choose: a voucher for everything you have paid (clause 5), or a refund of everything you have paid.
6.3 Neither party owes the other any further compensation for force majeure.
7. Weather
7.1 We cannot guarantee the weather. Bad weather is not a reason for a refund or a reduced price, and it does not change clause 2.3.
7.2 The yacht does not leave port when the port authority forbids it or when it is unsafe to do so. On a skippered charter the skipper decides; on a bareboat charter the rules in clause 18 apply.
8. If the yacht is not available on our side
8.1 If, for any reason on our side, the yacht cannot be handed over on the agreed date, you may choose to:
(a) extend the charter by the time lost, if the following bookings allow it and we agree;
(b) keep the end date and be refunded for the days lost, pro rata to the charter fee;
(c) if the delay is more than a quarter of the charter time, cancel and be refunded everything you have paid; or
(d) accept a comparable yacht we offer (similar size, berths and equipment). If its published charter fee is lower, we refund the difference; if higher, you pay nothing extra.
8.2 Apart from the above, neither party owes the other any further compensation for the delay.
8.3 If the yacht is lost or damaged beyond repair before the charter, you get back everything you have paid. If it happens during the charter and nobody in your party caused it, you get back the charter fee for the unused days.
9. Security deposit and insurance
9.1 The yacht is insured as Greek law requires, including third-party liability. You are not liable for loss or damage covered by that insurance, unless caused by gross negligence or wilful act by you or your party.
9.2 A refundable security deposit is paid at check-in at the base, part by card and part in cash. The amount is on your quote. It equals the insurance excess and is the most you can be charged for any one insured incident.
9.3 The deposit is returned at check-out after the yacht, her equipment and inventory have been checked. Repairs, missing items, fuel to refill the tanks (bareboat) and any late-return charges under clause 10.2 are deducted from it.
9.4 We do not sell a damage waiver. Specialist insurers (Pantaenius, YACHT-POOL, Topsail) offer security deposit insurance if you want it.
9.5 We are not liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings unless it was caused by our negligence. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
10. On board
10.1 No more people may sail or sleep on board than the number on your booking confirmation and crew list. Everyone on board must be on the crew list, which the port authorities require before departure.
10.2 If the yacht is not back on time (clause 2.3), for any reason including weather, we charge the daily charter rate plus 50% for each day or part of a day late. If the yacht is left anywhere other than Lefkas Marina, you pay the cost of bringing her back.
10.3 No smoking below deck. Pets only with our written agreement, and on deck only.
10.4 The yacht may not leave Greek waters, be used for racing, towing (except in an emergency), commercial purposes or subletting, without our written consent.
10.5 You and your party must respect Greek law, including customs, fishing and diving rules; removing antiquities from the sea is a crime. If the law is broken on board, the charter ends and you alone answer to the authorities.
10.6 The yacht carries a tracking device recording her position, speed and some on-board systems. It is used for safety, security and to check these terms are kept. It must not be switched off or tampered with.
11. Ending the charter early
11.1 If you end the charter early, nothing is refunded for the unused days.
11.2 We may end the charter, without refund, if you or your party seriously break these terms: more people on board than allowed, leaving Greek waters, an unlawful act, sailing in a way that endangers the yacht or people, or not paying what is due. Where the breach can be put right, we warn you first.
12. Claims
12.1 Tell us about any problem as soon as it happens, so we can fix it during the charter. A claim must reach us in writing within 7 days of disembarkation.
12.2 The check-in and check-out forms signed by both parties record the yacht’s condition and are final for anything visible at the time.
13. Personal data
We use your details and your crew’s only to carry out the charter and meet our legal duties, including the crew list for the port authorities. See our Privacy Policy.
14. Law
These terms are governed by Greek law. Any dispute goes to the courts of Lefkada, Greece. Nothing in these terms takes away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim in the courts of that country where the law gives you one. If any clause is found invalid, the rest still applies.
Part B: Skippered charters
15. The skipper
15.1 A professional skipper sails the yacht for you. The skipper has the final say on the route, the weather and safety. Each day you plan together; the skipper gives you the options the forecast allows.
15.2 You are welcome to helm and help sail, under the skipper’s guidance.
15.3 The skipper uses one cabin and has access to a bathroom. On Beleza this leaves two double cabins for guests; on Oasis, three.
15.4 Skipper’s meals. The skipper has breakfast and lunch from the provisions on board. For the skipper’s dinners ashore, please allow €35 per day. The same applies to a hostess, where booked.
15.5 Skippered charters sail on Saturday evening after check-in, and are back at the base on Friday evening.
Part C: Bareboat charters
16. Who may take the yacht
16.1 The skipper named on the booking must hold an ICC or equivalent national licence, and the crew must include at least one other experienced sailor. You send us the licence and a sailing CV before embarkation; the original licence is shown at check-in.
16.2 You confirm in writing that your sailing experience is true. If it turns out not to be, we may end the charter and keep the charter fee, or offer clause 17.
17. Check sail and skipper on request
17.1 At check-in, or at any time during the charter, we may ask to see you handle the yacht at sea with one of us on board. That time counts as part of the charter.
17.2 If, in our reasonable judgement, you or your crew cannot handle the yacht safely, we may put a professional skipper on board at your cost, at the rate on our price list, for as long as needed. If you refuse, or no skipper is available, we may end the charter under clause 16.2.
18. Sailing rules
18.1 The yacht must not leave port or anchorage:
- when the wind is, or is forecast to be, Beaufort 5 or more;
- when the port authority has forbidden sailing;
- with damage or with vital equipment not working (engine, sails, rigging, bilge pump, anchor, navigation lights, compass, safety gear);
- without enough fuel; or
- whenever the weather, the yacht or the crew make it unsafe.
18.2 No night sailing. The yacht must be anchored or moored in a safe place while there is still daylight.
18.3 Follow the coast guard’s directions on safety and weather. Reduce sail in time; sail only where the charts on board cover the area.
18.4 Plan the week so that the furthest point is reached within the first third of the charter, and two days before the end you are no more than 40 nautical miles from Lefkas Marina.
18.5 Report the yacht’s position and condition to us at least every three days, and at once if anything is damaged. After an accident, ask the nearest port authority to record it, and tell us at the same time.
18.6 Keep the log book up to date each day.
19. Fuel, running costs and repairs
19.1 The yacht is handed over with full fuel and water tanks and must come back with full fuel tanks; otherwise refuelling plus a service fee is deducted from the security deposit.
19.2 Port dues, fuel, water and other running costs during the charter are yours.
19.3 Repairs of damage you cause are yours. Repairs from normal wear and tear are ours: ask us first, keep the receipts, and we refund them at check-out.
19.4 If the yacht needs towing, tell us first. If you can’t reach us, agree the price with the other vessel before accepting the tow.
